SO HOW IS IT THAT OUR DESIGNER CREINA HAS ENDED UP IN THE SAME LOCKDOWN BUBBLE AS OUR DIRECTORS LAURINDA AND BRENT?
When lockdown was looming in New Zealand, Laurinda, Creina and Brent were in Los Angeles. Having already decided to cut their trip short due to closures in LA, and a rapidly advancing situation in America; their tickets had already been changed, but they still had to get home. Once on home soil, and breathing a collective sigh of relief, they were required to self-isolate for two weeks which posed quite the dilemma – not so easy for Creina who lives with two flatmates.
A well thought through decision was made for the three to self-isolate together – Creina moving into the couple’s upstairs suite for the two weeks – vacant due to the recent departure of their son back to University. Computers, files and other design collateral were dropped over to them from the office so they could set up a design studio from home and keep the creativity flowing.
Within a matter of days New Zealand was heading onto full level 4 lockdown, and the full reality of this set in when a decision meant to span 14 days quickly turned into one that would last a minimum of five weeks!
As a team we are extremely grateful for the personal sacrifice that Creina has made by staying with Laurinda and Brent (rather than her partner), to keep the design process going, and as such to ultimately keep the whole team in jobs. We take turns feeling sorry for Creina being away from her partner, and Brent being surrounded by Women, but Laurinda seems to be loving having full access to a daughter, sous chef, exercise buddy, nail technician, and partner in design crime. Thankfully Brent has a basement office (man cave) that he can escape to when the oestrogen crowds him out!
